Though now rooted in my home state of Connecticut, I spent formative years living in Southern California and the United Kingdom, traveling coast to coast and country to country. Wild spaces, rugged topography, and the churn of land and sea generate ideas for my oil paintings, which are big, bright, and intuitive. I loved drawing and coloring from a young age, and was encouraged to embrace these creative inclinations. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with Magna Cum Laude honors from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY, and a Master of Arts in Painting, University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a 2009 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar of Goodwill and a recipient of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation Artist Trust Award (2019) and Connecticut Office of the Arts Artists Respond Grant (2020).
I hold 20 years of experience in arts programming, education, and public engagement in the museum, university, nonprofit and private sectors. My areas of specialty are K-12 curriculum development, in-gallery and classroom teaching, thematic workshop and tour development, staff/volunteer training, and large-scale exhibition support including editing curatorial text, didactic and interpretive content, and artful public programs. I was named the Connecticut Art Education Association’s 2022 Museum Educator of the Year and a Connecticut Office of the Arts’ Elizabeth Mahaffey Arts Administration Fellow in 2024.
In addition to painting and museums, I love pottery, playing fiddle and guitar, hot drinks, brown spirits, second-hand stores, and traveling around coastal new england. I live in Goshen, CT with my husband and teenaged stepdaughters. My studio is located at Whiting Mills in Winsted.
