The oil painting process is full of decisions and mysteries that I explore as an artist/alchemist each time I approach a canvas. Thematically, I am interested in recording critical moments of beauty in my life, and in a way, stopping time.
Though now rooted in my home state of Connecticut, I spent formative years living in Southern California and the United Kingdom, traveling coast to coast and country to country. Wild spaces, rugged topography, and the churn of land and sea generate ideas for my oil paintings, which are big, bright, and intuitive.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with Magna Cum Laude honors from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY, and a Master of Arts in Painting, University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a 2009 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar of Goodwill and a recipient of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation Artist Trust Award (2019) and Connecticut Office of the Arts Artists Respond Grant (2020).
Prior to my freelance career as as visual artist, I worked for 15 years in the arts/museum administration and education realm. Through these pursuits I was named the Connecticut Art Education Association’s 2022 Museum Educator of the Year and a Connecticut Office of the Arts’ Elizabeth Mahaffey Arts Administration Fellow in 2024.
Outside of the studio, I love playing fiddle and guitar and traveling around coastal New England. I love a good coffee, a good whisk(e)y, a good chat, and vintage and second-hand treasure hunting. I live in Northwestern Connecticut with my husband and teenaged stepdaughters and our dog, Noodles.
